one small correction to what babypig said:

France did not "save our ass from the British." France refused to enter that war until after Saratoga, the most important battle of the revolution because it showed the world that we werent gonna be run down. After Saratoga, the British were forced to change their entire military strategy, leading to France deciding that since the colonists now had the upper hand it would be in their best interests to enter. France entered the war not JUST for us, but also for their own gain. Dont forget, they controlled colonies too that were in danger of British expansion.

oh, yeah, id bust out my cell phone and call for help. if i was dumb enough to leave it at home or didnt have reception, then id probably hike down the trail to either my starting point or my destination in order to find help.
