Please, if you thought that flame was mean, you haven't spent much time on PBB....

I didn't mean to piss on his wheaties, but at the heart of his post, is what I percieved to be the question of how much lift blah blah blah is this a good price blah blah blah that has been rehashed a bazillion times. After you've been on Yotatech long enough and seen numerous posts that could be answered via a quick search, you tend to get a little testy...

Can you please list all of the options then?

I'm getting my new wheels with 33x12.5 BFG's in about 7 days, so I'm hoping to have a reasonable solution for the rubbing that I'm going to have to deal with

All my truck has is RS 5000's and heavy duty shackles in the rear so far.

And I currently don't have the extra cash to get a suspension lift.

Will a 1" body lift do?

Well, here are the options that i was thinking about:
-suspension lift
-cranked torsion bars with spacers in the rear
-body lift
-fender trimming with flares
...all of those are for a 4runner though.
you could do one of these...basically same as a 4runner except for the back.
-suspension lift
-cranked torsion bars with an add-a-leaf set
-body lift
-flares and fender trimming

i guess that's about it...someone correct me if i'm wrong please

1" BL is all you need. If you have a 3G pickup, maybe you need longer shackles - for a 2G 4Runner, lose the sagging rear end (should do regardless).

The BL is under $100 shipped. Easy to install too! The rest is labor - to flatten the pinch weld in the front wheelwell and if you have stock bumper/valance a little trimming there as well. Get 4"+ BS 15x8 wheels.

Now I can copy this to a file and just paste it in the future. j/k of course.

Dude, chill out, it's all good. If someone is asking questions you think are too basic to be worth answering just ignore em or politely point out the search. Either way the post will drop down the list and you won't be bothered by it again.

And to answer your question Juggalo, I would probably just get a 2 inch suspension or body lift. From what I can see neither one is much easier to install than the other. If you won't be able to get the lift before he tires go on, you'll definately have to smack in the fenders and avoid sharp corners. Cranking up your torsion bars will give you atleast an inch up front but will result in what some argue to be a stiff ride.

If you are poor like me I think Roger Brown has a very affordable 2 inch body lift kit. I don't have his site bookmarked, but if you do a quick search as our friend pointed out it will be easy to find.

Not to contradict Cebby, but a 2 inch BL is not much more expensive or harder to install than a 1 inch BL. With a 2 inch BL you do have to extend the brakelines and some stuff I think, but you get an extra inch that might come in handy later. Personally I think the 2 inch looks a little better with 33's as well, but that's just my opinion.

Bottom line is either way will work and are cheap solutions.

Thanks Breakerfalls

And in case some of you haven't noticed, I'm still pretty new to the 4x4 Yota thing. I've been playing with a turbo Eclipse, for quite some time before. And if any of you would want to ask me a question about how to make a turbo 4 cyl car kick an LS1's ass, I would be more than happy to answer you in a polite way rather than telling you to stop asking questions that have been asked/answered many times in the past.

to all the haters out there

No problem. This board is addicting though, watch out or you could end up with 37 inch swampers and a snorkle even if you have no interest in off-roading at all. Reading everyones posts about all their cool toys makes you just want to hop in your truck and find some mud to play in!

Re-reading some of this stuff I feel like I might have come off a little rude. If I pissed anyone off, my apologies. The reason I started this thread wasn't to ask a question, it was to share a story. I got defensive because I felt like people were suggesting that I had done something wrong.

Anyways... there's no hard feeling son this end and I hope that everyone else feels the same way.

Goodnight everyone.

2WD? I missed that. If it ain't for prerunning, then it's for mall posing... Actually, with a rear locker, he'll give some open diff'd rigs a run for their money. Do a BL and save for a locker...

After thinking about it, the shop may have been intentionally dissuading you from modding you 2WD 4R by giving you those prices...

This reminds of the time that I asked a place here locally how hard it would be to replace the O2 Sensor on my 4R and he said that I might as well just bring it into the shop...I then asked the obvious question of about how long it would take them and in turn how much the end cost would be...he quoted about 175 parts and labor...well...I came on here, read some previous posts about the O2 sensor and decided to do it myself. Got the sensor for $91.23, came on here reread some posts...and about an hour later I had a brand new O2 sensor and was getting better mileage.

Just thought I would share another personal experience, its always good to hear ways this board has helped people...it has sure saved me a LOT of $$$! But then again...it has also made me spend some $$$ too...hmm...

If you must know I want 33's for 2 reasons. First of all it improves the stance of the truck and gives it a bit more of an agressive look. And secondly I want to put on a set of wider Mud-Terrains since I live here in Florida where everything is pretty much flat. I can get away with 2wd when all I do off-road is play in the mud.

I don't see what that has to do with the original discussion unless you'd like to just outright mock my 2wd.

Any more questions?

Not everyone modifies their vehicles to gain just an off-road edge. I'd hate to see how some of you treat people who mod their rigs as sport trucks.
