4runner

I have searched the other threads, but I am a novice and still don't know how to do it. I was planning on having Toyota do it until they tried to charge me 170 dollars. This is for a 2000 4runner.

here's what I have so far. Please correct me if I'm wrong...
I bought the brass T fitting (I have a boost gauge) with the connectors. How many feet of 1/4 inch hose do I need to buy?
Isn't the silencer the diamond shaped black box next to the filter box? I tried following the tube that leaves it, but it attaches to a metal cylinder thing on the back side of the engine. There is a place where I can disconnect the hose there. If I do disconnect it there, is that the nipple where I attach the boost port hose to?
Also where do I seal off the silencer? Do I plug the hose up?

Do you have a manual that came with your s/c?

The so-called free fmu is described and has pics in it.

All your doing is connecting the fuel regulator(just below the s/c in the back)to the port on the back of the s/c instead of connecting the hose from the fuel regulator to the air-box. "T" your boost gauge into that short(about 4") 1/4" hose.

The metal thing your talking about is where you make your connection and just cap off where you pulled the hose off at the air-box.

I'm confused as to whether the Free FMU is better than the cartech FMU, because on Gadget's site, he said he's running the Free FMU, but he said it's not the best thing to run. So, I'm assuming that the Cartech is the better way to go, right? Can you do them together? Would there be any point in doing that?
