Steve, Les Schwab tires did mine for me when I was down there for something one time.
I can't rremember if they took off the stock brackets or not.

I'd like to get the OME one, but I'm sure it won't work unless the stock brackets are still there.

Joshik---Are those two different steering stabilizers in that picture? They look like they mount differently. I know nothing about these, but by looking at the pictrue, I would say that if yours is like the top one, then it does look like it may rotate. If it's like the bottom one, then I agree with you, doesn't seem like it should rotate.

Joshik, I have a rancho on mine and it also turns so it must be normal although mine has been on for 7 years now. It did make a big improvement over stock. Also, I had to use the brackets because I could not get the stock shock off. Had to cut it off.

 

But disconnect one side of the shock and you'll find you can rotate it.

The stock one stays on if you install a rancho. The Rancho requires new brackets. Tuff Country makes a factory replacement for the stock stabilizer. I have had the Rancho one and stock one on my 93 truck since new. I have a set of brackets for the Rancho if any one wants them, off my 90 4Runner. IF U have an automatic the Rancho will not work, some of the lines come down in the way.

One end of the factory stabilizer is tapered. You would remove it like a tie rod end. I have a picture on webshots.

Paul, when Les Schwab did mine in Auburn, they pitched the stock one, and put on the Rancho with it's brackets.

I am going to have to pull my skid plate and see if the stock brackets are there.
I want to go to the OME one.

I do have the automatic, and the Rancho one has been one for a few years now.

That's strange it fits yours Corey. Maybe it is the later years. In that case Todd you can have the brackets for your 4runner if you want them. I'm sorry. I just remember when I was in L.C. we were going to put one on a 94 or 95 automatic and it would not work because of some of the lines. Does yours have a factory tranny cooler? Any one else with an automatic and have installed a Rancho Stabilizer? :confused:

 

I don't know if I have a factory cooler or not.
There is a small radiator type thing I think behind the main coolent radiator.

One of these days I'll yank the skidder off to see if I can put the Old Man Emu one in there or not, and take the Rancho one off.

I too have the Rancho. I did the install my self. No brackets were removed, but I did have to install longer bolts on the right side where the pitman arm attaches to the frame. Going back to an original setup would be no problem as the brackets used were place where the left side would bolt to the carrier rod. Gosh, now that I know about the OME.
