My 1988 2wd 2bbl carb Toyota Truck has problems when it first starts up.
First off it has black stuff come out everytime if it has been sitting for more than 8 hours. The black stuff looks like soot and sprays the ground for about 5 seconds. Then it has rough idle like it loops and sometimes wants to stall but never does. I cleaned the choke area and that helped the early morning idle.

The truck runs great after it has been running later in the day with a normal idle with no looping but the startup issues after 8 hours of sitting seem to be related to a choke problem? Also my temp gauge in my Truck doesnt seem to be working but I do have heat in the truck whenever I use my heater.

Please advise how I can check and fix this problem?
