starting engine that hasn't run in 8 months
This guy I know has an 84 4runner that he hasn't driven for 8 months. Overall, the thing is in good shape. He will let me have it for $350. It has a 22R engine. I've got a new battery for it, going to get some new plugs. Carburator looks kinda bad. Any thing else that should be checked, or done to get this thing runnin? Thanks for the input.

For $350 you're probably getting a good deal anyway, but I'd suggest at least doing an inspection on it. Do you know the guy personally or did you just see it "for sale" and inquire?

I agree with Boss. If you can do it, inspect it and see how everything is. If you can, take it someplace, maybe pay a few bucks and have them look over the thing and see what they think of it! It is worth the money and you are sure saving alot with the deal he gave you. :fireman:

if your gonna change the plugs you may want to sray a little wd-40 on the pistons
this will some what lube the cyl. and help if it has a stuck ring or 2. i would spray a good bit in each cyl. and wait a few mins. then with the plugs out crank it for a few revs to remove any extra liquid . put the plugs in spray a small amount of carb cleaner in the carb and fire it up! for $350 its worth buying it just for parts!
