Starter
Replaced the starter in my 1998 4Runner in 2007 when it had 55K+ miles. It currently has 125K+ miles. I hear a clicking noise at cold start and it takes a while after that for the engine to start cranking. I have no such problems when the engine is warmed up. I recently replaced the battery. Is it time for another replacement? Or could it be ignition contact or loose starter connection? Thanks!

My family has 4 3rd generation 4runners.
All 4 have the original starter, but have had the contacts replaced. As sdsurfer said, the OEM starters are pretty much bulletproof except for these contacts wearing out.
Search for threads about replacing the contacts and see if your problems are similar.
I did a contact replacement on my brother's rig about two months ago. I think it was about $35 for parts from Toyota and it took about an hour to do. If you try this, I'd recommend taking off the front passenger tire and working through the wheel well. Also, it'll help you to have some ratchet extensions. And, just pull the starter out. Don't try to replace the contacts inside the wheel well/engine bay.
