Today i took my wife, son and Dogs to Del Valle to go walking and swimming this morning. When i was parking i noticed a 96-98 SAS'd 4Runner a few spots down from me. I snapped off a few pictures (I'll try to post them later) of it. It had a D44 front and a D60 in the back. Coilovers with a 4link similar to some jeeps where there is only one attachment to the frame per side, and then it splits off into two where it attaches to the axle. It also had Chevy's in the rear. a Very slick bumper with integrated tire carrier/highlift and jerry can hold downs.

My Wife wouldn't let me crawl around and check it out underneath, so we went on our way. When we got back Search and Rescue looked like they were doing some drills, and the guy walked back to the truck with a "Trainee" german shepard. So I think the owner is part of search and rescue. But by the time i got my son in his car seat he'd left already, so i didn't get a chance to talk to him.

Anyone know who owns this truck?

I think it's Breezey, he got booted from the forums for something. Works for bentup bumpers I think

 

Breezy had a bentup bumper like mine, but it didn't have a hitch, or anything for a highlift, let alone jerrycans..... other than that it sounds like his. Either way i'm looking forward to the picks

 

I've seen breezy's truck it was black, and leaf sprung, and didn't look clean. The Fab work looked like it was rushed. This truck was kinda an off white color, and was Very Very Clean. Both frame rails were plated all the way back to the body mount... I'll get those pictures loaded up when i get home from work tonight...


And the person driving deffinatly wasn't breezy.....

Easiest way to talk to folks like that if they aren't around, leave a business card on their vehicle by the door handle, in the window jamb and put on the back "Nice truck!" (whatever it is) and tell them to give you a call. I've met lots of 4x4 enthusiasts around town like this, and I've been on both ends of the deal...folks are open to conversation if you begin w/ a compliment!

That rig seems a bit sagged in the rear end or is it just the angle?

Definitely not Cheezy, I mean Breezy.

 

i wouldnt exactly call that truck sagged, more "front high"

that is an awesome bumper! are we any closer to finding out what brand/make it is? i would like to build that type of bumper for my rig, i just need to find out who owns that rig to request info on it. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am stll a bit confused about the strenght of the 3rd gen frame rails. i thought the rails were too weak to support a tire carreir??? I guess it will work if the frame is reinforced Good looking bumper. It looks like there is NO gap between the bumper and body

 

I don't have any business cards, plus i haven't been wheeling in almost a year. I doubt I'd ask him if he wanted to go wheeling with me, since it'll probably be another year before i get back out.

What the heck are the two bars for protruding out of the center of the spare tire?

 

It's like a gigantic wing nut...

 

yakima uses the same type of "nut" to secure their mega/load warrior tire mounts

 

one point i liked was it is a coiled front susp. been wanting to a coil front on mine (2wd conversion in the way distant future)

Well if you know the lisence plate, cant you do to the dmv or somthing like that and hame them run it? Then you can get the guys number. Its kind of stockerish, but its a way to find out who the guy is.

Also that is a really nice runner, dont see to many runners with coils up front.
