I have an 82 4X4. I have a 3rd out an 87 4X4 (rear) Is there a ratio difference or will it drop right in. Speaking of specs, What is my best resource for technical info, compatibility questions ect.?????? I am humbled by your wisdom

it will bolt in, but the ratio may be the same or it might not, you wil have to count the pinion and ring teeth to find out if there the same ratio

all '82 4x4s had 4.10 gears stock. i'm pretty sure '87 did as well...always be a good idea to count teeth first though

Yep, my 87 4Runner 22RE 5-Speed has 4.10 gears so you should be solid.
