Anyone use or got a small(6' or 6'8") plow on their 4runner?I was thinking a 6' snoway,just for my driveway,neighbor or 2 and my parents driveway.Anything I should be concerned with?4runner is a 97 4x4 3.4 5spd,170k runs great.

 

Just my opinion... Leave the plowing to the one tons or bigger. If youre just doing your driveway get an ATV with a plow or a tractor.

 

Get a beater truck for plowing...unless the runner's already your beater. You wouldn't even have to register or insure it if you're just on private land...

i plow with a 95 full size bronco. i have 1 small business and about 15 driveways. i wouldnt want to plow with anything lighter than that. basically, i wouldnt put a plow on either of my toyotas, and expect to have similar results. i live in southeast PA which is the home of rain, sleet, freezing rain, and snow, all mixed in the same storm. the 2 inches of wet, rain soaked snow last week, was harder on my vehicle than plowing 8 inches of nice somewhat dry stuff we had this week. with a real heavy snow you will find out how light toyotas actually are, and you could end up really beating the crap out of your vehicle to compensate for its light weight. that being said, if you live in an area that recieves mostly cold dry snow, for your driveways you will probably be fine. keep in mind of course any plow you hang off of the front of a toyota will be a light duty plow. read that as "lightwieght, happy homeowner type plow" good for plowing occasional fluff. if you get heavey wet snow, or sleet, a heavy plow will actually plow that type of stuff, but your truck will suffer the consquences. a light plow will just ride around on top of that stuff, and all your buddies will make fun of you. like someone said previously, just get an atv. you'll probably spend the same, and even if it doesnt plow that great, you can still have a great time riding and drinking a six pac. trust me, snow plows just beat the living balls off of a vehicle.
