skid plate woahs.

hey guys,

i took off my skip plate on saturday when I switch the 4r over to mobil 1 and I have a stripped insert bolt (not my fault!- it the farest one back on the front skip plate piece, where the rear and front connect).....I managed to jury rig it back up with a skinny nut/bolt combo - but is there anyway I can fix the threaded insert?

thanks,
aaron

go to sears and buy a small tap and die set, that includes a 8mm tap. tap out ruin skid plate nut and rethead 8mm bolts or buy new 8mmx1.25 bolt from pep boys.:pig:

Tapping is fun!

Make sure you use plenty of tapping oil. Make very small (under 1/2 turn) turns until you feel the thread "set". Add more oil and then turn again.

If there is such a thing as spray tapping oil, you might need it given the fact that the thread is inverted. Otherwise, try a syringe.

Also, if you haven't already, you should rplace the factoy 8mm self-tapping bolts with non-self-tapping 8mm x 1.25 bolts.

I swapped mine very early on and I haven't yet stripped any of the factory threads -

and that's with a rockstomper skid that comes off every 3k for oil changes.
