Rola Rack

Here are some pictures of my Rola rack ("Rola" sticker removed from wind fairing) mounted to my OEM roof rack crossbars. I purchased the ~18" extension so it extends the rack to hang over my sun roof a little bit. It doesn't interfere with the sun roof open/close/tilt as it sits higher than the sun roof opens/tilts. I only put light gear up on the front portion of the rack since it isn't supported by a crossbar. Front and rear lights mounted to the rack to come in the near future...

I purchased the rack for $272 (total with shipping) from topoftheline.com. This was the cheapest (with shipping considered) I could find this Rola rack including the extension.

Here are the pictures.

Discount Ramps cheapy roof basket. Does exactly what I need it to; hold lightweight objects like chairs, etc. and is low profile to avoid trees. The dimensions fit perfectly where I needed it as well.

Do you have a side profile shot of this one?

I need something low profile. I had been leaning towards the Black Widow one, but its a little taller than I like. And, I have been looking at the one above as well. Is the mounting hardware at least decent on it?

I could build one, but for the price of the one you have its not worth my time.

I have been look at this one too. Not a real big fan of the basket itself with the wire, but this thing is $45 shipped. Talk about dirt cheap, and its one of the larger ones as far as the dimensions go at 37-1/2" X 46-1/2"

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-R...Q5fAccessories

I was thinking that I may buy two of these for use on my pop-up trailer. You really can't beat the price.

EDIT*****

I went ahead and just bought one. I used the "Make Offer" price of $45 and it was accepted. So, you can get one of these for $45 with Free Shipping at the Ebay link above.

Looks good..

I want to fit one inside of the rails of my yakima roof rack.

otherwise the rig won't fit in the garage, where it stays for safe keeping

Here's my full write up on it. I had to add a few spacers inbetween the twist downs and the bracket, this allowed it to clamp sooner and therefore clamp tighter on the factory crossbars. Otherwise the rack will slide when loaded up with firewood.

As far as the shovel mount, I fabbed it up and also used yakima's universal clamp on thingies with a quickfist to hold the handle.

The hi-lift side also works well for mounting an awning.

On a side note, because it fits perfectly behind the yakima wind fairing, I have no added noise and no change in MPG. I'm stoked I finally ordered sliders for this rig, I finally have a reason to warrant carrying a hi-lift with me .

Hey tofer you wouldnt happen to still have that rack laying around would you? I almost bought one today but they sold it when i was out of town. If you do i could pick it up when i go to jeffs to get my bumper.
And i could give you around like 150 for it, give or take a few bucks.

My 1995 4Runner doesn't have a factory rack. I have not checked, will it have mount points to connect a Yakima rack to it? It is presently locked in my neighbor's garage (engine in my basement) and I have not had a chance to go inspect it. I can get the Yakima parts from their website but will I have to do any drilling to get it installed?

Yakima makes towers that will mount it the rain gutters, or like to the door sills. This is how my old rack mounted to my Mustang...no drilling required, and with tower locks, they are VERY stable and durable.http://www.rockcreek.com/images_products/b_item1975.jpg

I have a set of gutter mounts and a set of gutterless mounts from Yakima that have been used on various vehicles through the years. I didn't think the 95 runner had gutters and I wanted the rack to be back over the cargo area and not up front where the gutterless would mount (at the doors). I really need to look at my truck...haven't seen it in a month (been locked up in the neighbor's garage). I would like for it to have mount points for landing pads, wish it had a stock rack.
