I haver recently painted my bumper to color match my truck, and man was it a pain. It seems as if you just want it to look a little better and I think so far everyone has had a good idea. Regular painting is a process and has to be done properly or else your going to have some so-so outcome. Rattle can comes out ok, but that is all.

Rhino lining or line-x'ing the bumpers seems like a solid idea, and for under $200 or even more it's still a good deal. I spent around that much in primer, paint, clearcoat, and hardener painting mine.

edit: Bet you'll find some rust on the inside of that bumper too, plan for sanding it for a while.

I called my local Line-X today, and the guy said the front bumper would not be more than $50 (if I brought it in primed). I think I am going to do it.

That's a pretty good price. I'm gonna call the guys in Kirkland tomorrow, I think. I'm poor though, and I'm torn between Line-x and just rattle canning it...

Christian, you wouldn't happen to have any hookups or good shops in the Bellevue/Issaquah area for window tinting would ya?

just a quick question, can you paint the line x/rhino? I have a silver 4runner and dont think the black line x would look good on the bumpers. I know I will linex my arb sahara bar when i get it, just would be nice if I could get it painted to match my body. Same with the back bumper. hmm, maybe id do my fender flares too, i dunno if that would look good though, the different texture on those, sure would be durable though.

No, that wont work. However, you can get custom colors. Gray was our second most popular color (besides black) at Rhino. The problem is that you have to mix the pigment prior to spraying. I say "problem" because time is money, and the whole process of switching back and forth takes longer and wastes a little more product. So, we would charge $50 more for gray. What you can do is call and ask when they will be spraying gray, and then try and fit your bumpers in then. That should keep your cost down. Keep in mind that gray is not going to match your silver paint. Have someone photochop your rig with your plan and see how it looks. That's what I did.

Ryan-

I used to, but not any more, sorry. My advice would be to NOT skimp on a tint place. Call Barrier motors and ask who does their tinting. Aim for a high-end dealerships and get some leads. You might pay a little more, but at least the tint wont peel or turn purple.

Also, give Bellevue Auto Rebuild a call. My dad knows the owner and he is a decent guy. They focus on high-end cars there also. Call and ask who does their tinting. Don't bother mentioning my name because it has been years since I have spoke with any of them (since I moved and stopped wrecking vehicles )
