Should I get this S/C or not...
I have a chance to get a 2nd Gen S/C w/ 60k on it. He took it off because the engine was having problems,
"Toyota checked out the truck and it had low compression on the right side. They did a wet and dry test and concluded that it had possibly bad rings and needed valve work."
Could this have affected the S/C in any way? Should I not go for it? Anything else I should ask the seller?

any force inductions are required to retune the ECU. If you do not retune in a certain way, leaning mixture will scarred up the pistons and walls. In addition, when people try to retune blindly w/o a dyno, they try to over-richen the a/f mixture and causes metal-to-metal contact because of the oil wash-off. in either ways, low compression will come up as the result.
in short, any FI system have to have the right a/f mixture through out the loadings or else components will start to fail in either short term or down the road.
there are many ways to retune the system, do some research and ask questions.

sorry about that, i assumed your sentence to be "afftected BY the S/C." just made more sense that way.
to answer your question, of course not, its just a blower. not to say, that it couldnt be defective but, in general, it should not.
im not sure how youd test a S/C, but someone on this board should know how.

there have been a few on the board that have sent thier S/C off to be rebuilt. Might be worth the shipping to have it sent and checked out. I cant see why or how it would have hurt the S/C. Without the fuel mods it might have been the cause of the motor issue.
