I have recently purchased 1998 Tacoma SR5 V6 Xtracab 4WD. I am planning to purchase a trac rac that comes in short or long bed variants. Is my truck classified as a short or long bed?

Maybe a long bed since the only other bed toyota offers for that truck would have been the shorty on the double cab.

BUT.......

In 89-95 There were two beds, the standard bed like on the standard mini and the xtra cab these were 6'. A long bed single cab version was offered that had like a 7.5 foot bed or something, it had a larger fuel capacity than the standard and the xra cab too. Ask the rack people how long the racks are and measure your bed, that will give you a for sure answer.

I would think it would be a short bed though...

Most likely a short bed. Its measurement should be a little over 6'.
