Shifter problem...
just got my truck a few days ago and got it on the road today.
I was in 4th and went to shift into 5th and the shifter just kept going right then it arced around and nearly touched the dash. It's like there's no stop on that side, it just rotates all the way around. Going to the left hits the stop just fine.
I searched and found the writeup for the seat repair and took my shifter apart to inspect it, the seat was trashed. I'll be going to the dealer for a new one tomorrow. However one of my retainer pins is broken off. The shifter collar was in there tight.
Is the seat the cause of my shifter problem or would it be something else? Is it ok with a pin missing?
Thanks in advance!

Metal, I would like to be the first mod/admin to say:
THANK YOU FOR SEARCHING!!!
What a refreshing change for a noob!
Oh yeah, back to your question: yes, that retaining pin thats missing on the left is whats causing your shifter to swing around w/o stopping. How it broke off is beyond me and how to replace/reinstall it is beyond my guess w/o actually taking it apart.
If you do figure it out, please take a pic and document the process
thanks,
Bob

I'm on a lot of forums and always yelling at noobs to search first... Actually this isn't my first yota, it's my 3rd. My second was wrecked on black ice. I've been lurking this site for years, found more info and fixed more problems on my truck just from searching alone, this was the first one I actually had to post about
I'll probably take the top plate off my wrecked yota and use it on this truck, I'm not sure how else to fix that pin.
Thanks for the help!

From the pic if the hole on the left side is empty and the pin sort of fell out vice breaking off then you can press in a new pin made from some SS rod....Yes taking the top plate of a donor is easier....
