check this site for the capacities of an automatic tranny:

Thanks! I'm calling the Amsoil rep to clarify. During the first phonecall, he quoted me $168 for the whole thing. Does that sound a unreasonable? Redline from my local parts store is only $8/qt - is Amsoil really that expensive?

I don't know. I use castrol all the way around so it's a bit cheaper for me. like 3 something a quart and my diff's use less because of the ARB's taking up the space. but from what I hear, it's good but it costs.

The site you linked says I need 16qt for the tranny? Is that a typo, or is he talking about a complete flush? Also, if I don't go to a shop and do it myself, is it a good idea to mix the ~3qt's of Redline or Amsoil synthetic with the remaining 13qt of non-synthetic that are left in the tranny?

I'm sure he's talking complete flush since he went to synthetic. don't ax me about the mixture. I mix castrol with castrol all the time.

Mixing the small amount of synthetic with the remaining mineral based fluid is a waste of money and time. Do the flush but be prepared to pay for it. Especially if you go synthetic.

The 16qt figure is for a complete flush. The trans acutally holds about 11/12 quarts for a dry fill. The extra is because some extra fluid is needed for the flush process. It is not a good idea to mix fluid types. If you intend to do a drain and refill and not a complete change/flush, then just get the regular, non-synthetic.
