Seafoam Rocks!!!

today i went down to the local advance auto parts and picked up a can of seafoam.

I got home pulled the brake booster and started dumping.....3\4 the can went in and it was starting to smoke like CRAZY i turned it off and hooked the vaccum line up again.

started it up and let all the foam burn through and WOW

its idling back at 800 RPMs and running unbelivibly smooth...i took it out for a spin after it was all said and done and WOW its an incredible diffrence.

i know im not the first person to realize this but it made a HUGE diffrence instantly...just like the can says

seafoam

After putting over 10K miles on the new head I ran a half a can through the fuel.It increased my idle so much I had to turn the idle adjustment down an entire turn. The motors quieter and smoother too!

Try Techtron next time. You wont get it for $5.00 but if seafoam made you happy Techtron will send you over the edge. It will clean much better and the affects will last a whole lot longer.

Suck in about 1/2 the can then turn it off...let it sit for about 10 mins to soak into all the crud...then start it up again...it will freak you out how much stuff burns out of it.

I had a fluctuating idle and a Seafoam treatment got rid of it

For some of you guys with the older trucks you may want to let the Seafoam soak a little longer than 10 minutes. My 86 barely smoked after 10 min. of soaking but when I let it sit in there for about 3 hours...! Wow

My 84 Camry got to where it was barely idling and I had to keep my foot on the gas at red lights. I ran about half a can through the brake booster line and it helped tremendously.

I also used a can of BG-44K in the gas tank before that and it helped too.

I need to do the Seafoam thing again when I get the time.

This is the thread to read:
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...hlight=seafoam

Just an FYI - if you read in these threads a term that is used pretty commonly without explanation, a search will probably yield a lot of helpful results and probably even a few threads with the term in the title.

haha you dont accualy pour it into the brake booster...the vaccum line that goes into the brake booster....in order to clean all the injectors you need to make sure that the seafoam gets to all the cylnders...this goes directly into the plenum and it will suck the seafoam directly into it..

you can also use the pcv valve or anything that goes into the engine as long as it has a vaccum to it and will reach all the cyilnders.

it will clean junk out of the injectors...i dont know about valves..i forget what you use to clean up those.

A little info, I blew up my old truck with the 3.0 V-6 doing exactly this. Just do a bit at a time. I snapped a rod in half. So, just be careful.

I might be wrong but I don't think putting it through the vacuum lines cleans the injectors out....

For that you are supposed to dump a can in the gas tank.

I always thought it cleaned out carbon deposits and buildup on valves ect. when sucked through the vacuum lines.

I put one can in the tank and another through the vacuum line. Worked great.

Does anyone know a retailer for SeaFoam in Canada? Or any place where you can order it online? Is it legal to order this type of thing through the border? Or maybe a trip accross the border is in order for myself...
