rough grinding, trying to pinpoint

so over the last few weeks, this grinding that seems to originate from the front suspension has gotten worse. at first i thought it was only during certain gears, and was thinking the transmission was needing work (possibly bearings).

this grinding im describing is rough, and you can feel it on your feet. it seems the faster i go, the rougher the grinding. i dont think it is the suspension, but i dont want to rule out anything. im thinking possibly some steering components? because after reversing and then going forward, i hear a popping sound? i need to take it in to a mechanic, but i want to go in with a more narrowed down approach. does this seem to ring any bells to anyone?

vehicle specs: 99 4runner, 5spd, s/c, 165k.

Oh really? So its clutch related? When you are sitting at idle it does it? but when you puch in the clutch it goes away? Thats prob release bearing.

yea depending on if the clutch is in or out. but see i dont know if these are 2 different problems, or if theyre related. but im getting a pretty rough grinding under my feet, and its pretty concerning, as its getting worse. i guess i just need to take it to my mechanic tomorrow and get it up on a lift. i just wanted to have a few things listed to have him check out ya know.
