Replacement shocks

I have a 1999 4runner with a 2.5-3" OME lift. Years ago I put their medium stiffness springs in the vehicle and whatever OME shocks that went with them. The shocks are worn out, and I need replacements, but I was never really impressed with them. I think I am going to try Bilsteins this time around. What is a good model number for my truck with that lift? I'm looking for a non adjustable shock. I know this is a well covered topic, but I don't have the time I once did to internet research things due to family

There have been 150 views of this thread and no one has any idea what bilstein shock, or any shock, would fit well in OME 2.5-3" lift springs up front?

I'm researching the same thing currently for my 94 Toyota 4x4. I have a 4" RC Suspension lift on it currently and RC's Nitro N2.0 shocks and they are worse than the factory ones I pulled off of it. I have to drive around with 3-40lb sand bags in my bed just to keep it from bouncing around and feeling like my axle's are about to fall off. What I've come up with so far with the research I've done is the following (based on reviews and ratings):

84% Bilstein 5100 series
77% Skyjacker M95 Performance Monotube
72% Pro Comp ES9000 Series
67% Skyjacker Nitro 8000 series

These four shocks are so far the ones that are recommended for my year Toyota with a 4" suspension lift. Although everyone's opinion are different as far as how nice the ride is on the highway vs. offroad (logging road, actual offroading, etc.), Bilstein's seem to keep being the only shock that pops up in threads and forums that people seem to not have anything negative to say about other than their price, however, you get what you pay for (I found that out the hard way with my lift and shocks from RC. Shocks are a piece of ˟˟˟˟).

Just learning how to use this site so if you have any other questions and I can help, feel free to ask and I'll try to share with you what I've researched so far.

Bilsteins ride stiff. I would not buy the Pro Comps though they ride nice while they last. rancho's have heat issues and have failed me pretty regularly on the rear, the fronts are still living.

All these shocks are made on the same assembly line, just different stuff is put in them. If you really want a good shock you just have to step up to the bypass shocks with a reservoir to manage the heat. Or just get used to them dying on you on a regular basis.

I run the Blistiens Sonoran provided, a little stiff up front but perfect with my hydraulic Plow or a full bumper with winch, I had to replace 1 front shock after 3 years but Blistien covered it. Rears are soft and a little tall withe the LC springs but with a small load in the back, (2nd battery, 33" spare & Jack) it sits close to level after a year or 2 of abuse. The fronts are adjustable but it is a snap ring on the lower spring seat so you have to disassemble to adjust. And Blistien won't cover the shock if there is any marks on the shock body, I always advise you get them from Steve Sonoran because he provides solid service and advice, even I get them from him and he is 4000km's away.
