Replaceing Ignitor Wires

My engine cut out while I was driving today - after a little looking around and a lot of scratching my head, I noticed that 1 of the 3 wires from the ignitor was broke. I respliced all three (they were all held together by 1 strand and pretty much crumbled when I touched them. Anyways, I cut and respliced and it FIXED the problem. My question now is -

Do I need to replace the Ignitor or can I run new wires?
Where exactly do the wires run to/from?

thanks all
