Hello out there, Well I have a 1995 4Runner with the 3.slow 5 speed and 187k on the ticker. In the spring I will be looking to replaces the 3.slow Just looking for some info on wich would be the best route to go. New york don't care if you put an older or newer engine in your vehicle, so that would not be a problem. Or should I just sell the 95 and buy a 98

I have a 3.4 in my 95. There have been at least 3 threads about this in the last 10 days. It is pretty point and go with a stick. It is a lot of work that requires a good plan, but it is doable.

 

Unless you like troubleshooting,

get a 3rd gen... then you have an updated interior as well. Unless your just dead in love with your truck and plan on keeping it forever. Because there is NO way you will get nearly as much out of the truck as you will have put into the thing. And seeing as your already second guessing and asking about just getting a 3rd gen, thats probably the way to go.
