I had a car starter installed on my 4th gen. 4Runner yesterday, and now my "check engine", "VSC Trac", and "VSC Off" lights come on and won't go off. I've driven it a few times and everything feels normal. But the lights stay on.
Any ideas on what caused this and how I can fix it? Anyone else have this problem?

What make and model of car starter was installed?

 

Take it back to them. A starter is an incredibly intrusive device, taps into most vital circuits and "guessing" what's wrong would be just that, guessing.

 

It's made by DesignTech - model # 25523T. I've had them on a few other vehicles and never had a problem. Makes me think there was a problem with the install.

 

9 times out of 10 that is the problem. On a new vehicle model, there may have not been a tech sheet available from the alarm manufacturer. This means they used their "experience" and "common sense" to install it. Two things typically in short supply at a lot of shops that do this stuff.
