Relay Clicking Like Mad Behind Speedometer

We have a '92 Toyota SR5 4X4 Pickup with V6 - stock

There is a clicking noise (sounds like a relay) from approximately behind the speedometer.

Does not click when the gas is released in any gear (slowing down, clutch in or out.)

It occurs at, or about 30mph + in any gear.

Appears only under load.

Now there is a corresponding groan coming from the left front area (somewhere under the hood - I think) that happens only under load along with the clicking... (buddies, I think)

Any brilliant ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark and Sher

Color me stupid but, I think that's the speedo cable and gears. My old dear boss @ Intel had a 89 Toy that had it's speedo cable changed twice. I would start with replacing the cable and hope it's not the speedo gears in the instrument cluster (IMHO).

I'd have to agree.

Does it seem to occur more in colder weather? Mine makes a rattling noise when it is really cold out, but it goes away once everything has warmed up ~ 10 minutes or so.

I'm having a similar problem under load (vehicle in drive, foot on brake) when I have lots of electrical accessories running. Getting relay like erratic clicking when I turn on turn signal. Goes away when I put it in neutral and raise the revs. Already replaced turn signal relay. Definitely not the speedo cable, could it be tach related?

I get clicking sounds from my intermitten wiper switch. Its like the contacts are warn or covered. It goes away some times. I have planned to replace the multi-switchs on the column.
