Have a problem with my rear wiper. When I turn it on the wiper comes down so it is verticle. It then will not move. When I pull it off the window it runs fine but then stops when I put it back on the window. It seems like there is too much downforce on the wiper arm. Is there some kind of adjustment I can make on it? Thanks.

It almost sounds like the wiper has been knocked off its splines and the park position is now further down, If this is the problem just unbolt the wiper arm and realign its down position, by taking the arm off and putting it back on the splines with the wiper where you want it to be when it parks. re tighten the bolts (but not too tight) and it should work.

Mack, it looks like you are right; however I could not figure out how to take the wiper arm off the spline. I could not find the bolts that you are talking about. How do you remove the arm from the spline? Thanks again.

 

Sorry Mack, gonna step on your toes here

I'm assuming that your '92 is like my '90, with the wiper at the top of the rear window.
Look at where the arm attaches to the to the body (motor pivot point in the top mid. of the window). There is a pressed sheet metal cover that will swing up at the point where the pivot for the wiper arm is, you may need a flat screwdriver to work it loose and up. Under that cover is a 10mm nut (whatever that ='s in SAE). Take the nut off, remove the arm and clean/check the splines of the two mating surfaces.
If everything looks good and making sure the motor is in the parked position, re-attach the arm in the parking holder and be careful not to over tighten the nut, or you may crack the aluminum end of the wiper arm.

Thanks fred, the nut was actually very loose. The splines looked almost completely wore off but I put the wiper arm back on and now it works fine and thanks to you to Mack for your initial call.

 

I misread your initial post and thought you were talking about front wipers.
