I have a question about the rear light by the tailgate. Is this soppesed to come on when you open the tailgate? Ever since I have owned my 4Runner it has never worked unless I physically turn it on. Also, when I unlock my doors with the keyless and open the hatch, after about 30 seconds or so it relocks itself. To me it seems like there is a sensor out in the back somewhere, but I don't see one anywhere. Does anyone else have this problem or know where the sensor is supposed to be?

 

Dunno about the 97, but all the Runners I've played with that light only comes on with the switch.

Re the door lock - it isn't a problem - it's supposed to do that.

 

Yes, it can be set to come on with the gate. On the light housing you will see a plastic slider, move it to the other side. It will now turn on when you open the gate.

 

Thanks Jason, but I allready tried that. It still does not come on when I open the tailgate. That is why I am wondering if there is a sensor out. It's not really a big deal, just kind of annoying because I know how it's supposed to work, I just can't make it do it. Anyone else have any ideas?
