Rear Seal ????

Here is my question ?
Last weekend noticed a bunch of brown junk behind my rear wheel on the passanger side, When I took the wheel off looks like it was a slight leak, oil on everything but not to much. I cleaned it all out with some brake cleaner and this has not happend again for over a week now any idea on what happend ??
Clogged Diff Breather perhaps ? and was just a little blow by the seal, If it was leaking all the time would it be a mess again.
I know I need to replace the brake shoes now but figured I'll wait and see what happens.
So give me your best guess...

You might have just driven through some grease. But chances are you clogged your breather so check that first thing before you do any more driving. Make sure it is nice and clean. Drive around then stick your finger under the bottom of your disk. See if there is any oil there. If so, busted seal. It will only get worse with time...

Do a search here for this topic, there are many instances of this happening...

Still no leak

Well its been over a week now and still have not had any oil in the rear drum again ? Could the breather had just gotten stuck ?
Oh well think I'll order a new one and replace it this weekend kust to be sure.
And thanks for the response, I have read alot of the other post about this problem in the past just thought if it was leaking it be doing it all the time

you are going to order a new breather?? or new seals? I doubt your breather is broken. Just move it around and remove any dirt that may be clogging it.

I recently fixed my passneger side as it was leaking badly. My passenger side leaks now but very minimal. I have the seals and everthing to fix it, but just havent had the time. So yes, it may just be very minimal and you may have irritated it driving through some mud or something that made it look bad when it really isnt. Nevertheless, it will only get worse and driving around with no oil in your diff is NOT a good idea.
