Rear Recovery Hook Install ???
Wanted to get some opinions on mounting rear recovery hooks on my 4runner since at this point all I have are the tiedown points and don't want to spend a lot of money on a receiver hitch, etc.
Is it just a matter of insuring that the frame is solid and then drill through it to mount the hooks? Any specific hook/bolt recommendations or are the 10,000 lb tow hooks at Home Depot good enough? Thanks for the advice.

Check this out
Here's a thread about shackles and if you can't find anything there check out Steve Schaefer's website, he's the one that built them.

Hope this helps!

Unfortunately it looks like Steve only makes the shackle hanger for the 96-02 4runner (although I could weld it on). This one from the thread looks pretty stout http://www.spydercustoms.com/index2.html
What do you think?
Do you think a muffler-type shop would be able to weld it on sufficiently for a recovery point, or should I go to an actual welding shop?
