Ok guys. Some of you may have read my previous posts about a bad transfer case.

Turns out that it is my REAR DIFF that is making the terrible clunking sound and feeling in my truck.

I need to replace it asap. What is a good price to pay for a used one, and are there any other rear diffs that i could upgrade/change to.

Keep in mind that i have a 1985, 4runner 4wd. but wouldn't mind changing the gears up front if need be.

Have you tore down the axle or pulled the drain plug yet? Sounds like R&P. It would definately be a good time to regear f&r in addition to repairing the rear axle (bearings, diff, etc.). Hell, good time to lock if you have not yet done so.

where are you at? I have a 4.10 third member I could make you a deal on.

 

located in san diego. I am told that the part i need to replace is not the "gears" but the part that conects to the driveshaft, and then turns the gears.

Would that be what i need?
If so, how much, and whats the story with it.

what is needed to get a locker in the rear?

Do they come stock on other model toyotas? Can i run a locker in the rear, but not the front? What price will i be looking at?
