Rear Diff Leaking

I have noticed that my rear diff/third member is leaking slightly where the rear brake cable bracket is attached. It's a bit rusty, and I imagine I am in for trouble. I did some searching on the net and it seems this is certainly not unheard of. Anyone seen this before?

I am going to try to determine how bad it's rusted, and maybe I can weld a patch over it, or use some steel epoxy?

I don't want to have to replace the entire 3rd member. Too bad the diff doesn't have a removable cover that bolts on/off.

Any suggestions?

Jeff
