re-oiling TRD/K&N air filter

Hope someone can answer my question. Do you re oil both sides or only the side the air comes in? Also, how do you know if you put too much oil? Don't want to mess uup the senser.
Thanks in advance.

just the outside on the k&n. I usually put too much on mine and it drips a little in the bottom of the air box.. just make sure you cover all the filter.
it's white after you wash it so it's pretty easy to tell if you missed a spot while spraying the red oil on it.

Thanks guys. The instructions only show a picture of them spraying the outside but doesn't say it inwords.
Also, I did put too much. Left it over nite oil side down and this morning the newspaper was alomst totally covered in oil.
