random stall?

Heres what I have. A 96 6cyl automatic.

I was driving on a ramp to get on to the interstate and I was at about 2k going 40mph. I started to accelerate and the truck just stalled. This was scary b/c the people in Richmond fly on the interstates. I want to know what caused it? I got out of the truck after pulling into the grassy area(dont want to get hit by a car or truck) popped the hood and didnt see anything or smell anything out of the ordinary.

Well I tried firing her up a couple of times and no dice. Finally I decided to step on the gas pedal while trying to start it and she fired up. What may of caused this? No engine codes or anything. I drove the rest of the way to campus and everything seems fine?

Thanks in advance

Have the codes pulled even if the CEL isn't on. There might be something stored that would help to figure this out.

If it stalls out when it hits redline that's from the fuel cut feature, safeguarding your engine from damage.

hmm...I wonder if its the injectors?

Does anyone know a cheap/efficient way to clean them? I do have 211k on the truck. Also, I have never changed the fuel filter, maybe I should do that?

you can use seafoam to clean them... however you may actually want to have them profesionally cleaned and rebalanced. Fuel filter does sound like a good idea considering the mileage as well.

I used seafoam on my 97 at 210k v6 4x4 auto my mpg's were around 240-250 per tank after using seafoam my mpg's went to 280-290per tank. My 99 4rnr w/134k gets only 250 per tank. I will be doing a tune up. You should try a tune up as well.

Few things you should do:
1) I assume your air filter and spark plugs are good
2) clean the throttle body
3) change the fuel filter
4) clean the IAC valve

If it still stalls, post back

Don't use the seafoam. I have something better that treats in the tank.

Don't ask me where I got it as it is not yet available for retail sale BUT is in common use in one Permium Gasoline from a very major supplier.

I would just add "plug wires" to #1. I had a rough idle/stall problem due to a faulty wire.
