random CEL visits

anyone else get them? its been happening to me a bit more frequently lately. CEL will come on...stay on for a day or 2, then go off. sometimes it'll come on & off w/in a day. everything seems to be running normal...dont really want to pay a visit to the stealership to pull codes, since its not staying on.

any ideas what to look for? im all about it...

its a 98 runner LTD btw...

I had the same thing at only 60K. The code said it could be gas cap or evaporative canister. I purchased a new cap (10 bucks), tried it for a week with no luck then had the canister replaced (400 smackers). I'm at 109K with no CEL since. I know it sounds basic and you may have already done this but check to be sure your gas cap is screwing on properly. The relief valves on the caps can fail too meaning your system does not build up the necessary pressure thus the fuel delivery brain triggers the CEL. It's probably worth buying one to try, then you have an extra in case...good luck

Second that, my dad's NSX had this problem, I know they are completely different, but he had a CEL for a while, and after his next fill up, it went away, so it was the gas cap.
