I know they bolt up.. but do they line up length wise? anyone ever done this or know anything about it? I know its a bit of modding and clutch assembly needs to be put on and stuff.. but i want some more power out of my engine.. it weird.. my buddy has an 88 with a 10" lift with 36" TSL super swampers... he also has the 3.0 with 4.10 gears. hes 5spd. I have a 96 with teh 3.4 and auto and 4.30 gears running 285/75/r16 Kumho MT's.. he keeps up with me off the line... didnt race very far but he was right on me... is this normal? somethign wrong with me truck?

 

First, I applaud your desire to get a 5 speed. You will need to change the engine ECU by the way. But you and especially your buddy are misguided. A 5 speed will not give you any more power. Use the money to change the gears. :pat:

 

^ You don't exactly get more power but you do get to use your existing power more wisely so in that case the truck will accelerate faster. You know what he meant.

 

Yep, I hate autos, truly do. And not just because they convert a considerable amount of your horsepower to useless heat...

What's the worst case? have to shorten/lengthen drive shafts. Standard is the only way to drive, but it can get tricky in some offroad situations, just have to get used to it.
