quick ? on an 86

howdy..well i have a quick question for yall. im looking at an 86 runner with about 202000 on the clock. body is in good shape and it runs well...asking price is 3300. now i went to edmunds site and they give a retail value of about 1700 for it. then kelly blue book site gives it a value of around 3600. so, what do you folks think a fair price would be?? thanks.....

What kind of engine, tranny, and does he have all the paperwork for it? past repairs and such. I got my '87 just over a year ago for $3,700, but it had 78K on the clock, so I was willing to shell that out. I'd try talking him down, maybe you can get him to break even at 3000. If the person smoked in the car, if the shocks look like they need to be replaced, or tires show sign of misalignment, stuff like that. Good luck, and if you get it, post pics!

Thats about what I see in the Auto Trader for trucks like that. Thats what I would do, is search on www.autotrader.com and see what people are asking for that truck with that many miles (or there abouts). I am new to toyotas (was raised american cars), but I bet 2800-3300 would be about right.

Make sure to take it for a test drive, and then after the engine shuts off, wait ten min and try to start it again. I have had some hot start problems along with some other people that I have read on here.

I paid $2600 for my '86 automatic that had 195,000 miles at the time.
