Question on roof rack size??

I'm looking at roof racks, and was curious on the size to go with.
Is a 45 x 60 too big? My options are 40 x 50, 45 x 50, 40 x 60, or 45 x 60... I was looking at the Surco Brand. Can anyone share any experiences with these racks? Thanks for the help.

My Surco is 45 x 50. It's a good size for me. I have a bunch of pics on my site... you can see all the ways I use it and how that size fits my 96. The surcos are decent for light duty use. I carry gas cans, tool boxes, my hi-lift, and wet/dirty/muddy gear in my basket all the time and I've never had any problems. I also carry mountain bikes and kayaks on top of the basket. The floor supports are pretty weak... make sure you get good support under them if you're going to be carrying anything heavy. That's really my only complaint about the rack. Good price, lots of accessories, light, doesn't rust, but flimsy floor supports.

Hey thanks Jacksonpt...I like the size you went with. Do your Thule bars provide more support for the basket? I'll be using it primarily for light duty, so hopefully it shoudl sufice. I just don't want to drop $400 bucks for a Wilderness or Conferr, you know.
By the way, nice pictures. Your rig looks good. I also need to start mountain biking again. It's been so long. I wish DFW Tx. had more trails, and wheeling areas. Thanks again.

Yea, my Thule bars provide more than enough support for light-medium duty loads. I had 3 tires up there once... not sure how much they weighed, but definitely the most I've ever had up there... probably 100-150lbs. The surco should be fine for light duty work.

Any other questions, let me know.
