So then the question is "Do you want to buy (trust) a Ford certification on a Toyota vehicle?" I think the answer is clear to most people.
Mostly, its the warranty issue that I'd worry about. This Ford dealership would probably purchase some third party extended warranty that may:
a) only be honored at their dealership
b) not be honored at a Toyota dealership (or any for that matter)
c) may only cover certain components over a shorter period of time
Nevertheless if you're interested, look at it and if it meets your standards, by all means, purchase it. My only concern is that they may overcharge you for a "certification" that may or may not be worth the paper that its written on.

I wonder if it has a locker *drool*
I'm in a little pickle though... I'd like to hold out a little longer to see what other options are out there and also to see how good of a deal I might get when the 2005s are officially out. Then again, if I do so I'm sort of slitting my own throat.
*sigh*
I need another car
Maybe I'll get a motorcycle to tide me over in the meantime.Right.
...and then after that I'll invent something phenomenal, make a bajillion dollars, and buy everyone I know a Toyota

I started out looking for used ones, but the prices were just outragous. Some cases the use car prices were more then what I bought mine for new.

Yeah, the holding out is pretty tough

S'okay, I have dents and crap that need to be fixed in the meantime.

Toyota's history at build out, especially when a revamped model is due, is to provide BIG incentives in the June-August time frame. There will be retail factory-to-dealer and factory-to-customer cash back, probably up to $1,000 each way, along with the usual Value Pack specials. It'll be one of those times when a retail customer will be able to purchase below fleet pricing because those are exempt from retail spiffs. If you do preference a truck, be certain to write in your purchase order that the price will be net invoice (invoice less all incentives), plus $XXX, and since you have time, specify a delivery month like July.
I'd guess an aggressive volume dealer would go for $500 over on a preferenced vehicle. They wouldn't have to pay any inventory finance charges, it'll go from the transporter truck to you in a day. That'll give you several months to sell your truck and if necessary rent something to hold you over if yours sells early. Just keep in mind that your truck is depreciating about 1% per month, so delays are costly especially when more info, photos and pricing on the '05's hits the street. The '04's will definitely take a hit then.
Also, you gotta figure that the Flagstaff truck can be had for less than the asking price and/or the dealer might give you an acceptable trade-in offer. A low mileage '03 would qualify for favorable finance rates, too. Maybe someone here could swing by to check out the truck...if it's still there.
So many choices! Bottom line is: With rates where they are, big incentives throughout the industry, and a deflationary environment, it's an unusually good time to buy. That's why Toyota has broken their "best ever" sales records for (with a record January '04), seven months in a row.

Oh you like torturing me, dontcha?
It seems pretty clear to me that the Imperial Jade is NOT a popular color so I've kind of got that working for me and against me
My Assistant Chief's son is really loving the Tacomas and I took him out for a drive around campus when he came with his dad to work a few months ago. I showed my boss the pics of the 05 and he doesn't like it

He LOVES the color dark green and is interested in the fact that it's a double cab. That with the fact that his son is 16 AND they finish paying off a car this year could really work to my advantage. Hopefully this will line up a waiting buyer for me (crossing my fingers and praying fervently
).
I just have to find WHERE I'm getting my replacement and time it right. Hopefully.

I got another message from another dealer. He's made no promises but this is what he states:
What do you guys think?
It appears that Toyota will ship this vehicle to dealers 2 different ways.
The first will have the following equipment-(OF) OffRoad pkg (including
locking differential and alloy wheels), (FB) Hi4 Selector Switch, (IX or LX)
SR5 pkg (including AC, wilt, tach, upgrade stereo, clock), (CQ) convenience
pkg (including power pkg, cruise, rear window, privacy glass), (PX) metallic
paint and (CF) carpet floor mats pkg. This truck has an MSRP $26992 and we
can discount the vehicle through the Fleet/Internet Dept for $24905. The
second way it is shipped is same as above but without the (OF) OffRoad Pkg,
but it will have (AA) Alloy Wheels. This way is a little less, MSRP $26607
and your fleet price will be $24588.

Here is what my original quote was for my truck:
2004 4x4 d-Cab (Lunar Mist)
LL - Limited Package (which is IX + CQ + sport seats)
FB - Hi-4 Selector
OF - TRD Off-Road Package
DL - Daytime Running Lights
GO - Rear Cargo Net
They also added the Floor Mats at no charge.
$25500 - $500 rebate - $100 referral.
Be sure to ask about a referral bonus for someone, which is usually $100. Most of the time it can be anyone and they also might apply it directly to the final cost of the Truck.

That sounds like a great deal...less than the used one in Flagstaff. I'd take a run at it, but be sure to write up your purchase order as described. They'll understand net invoice, they obviously do now, that's a really skinny deal for them. Have a take-it-or-leave-it attitude, let them know that you're aware of the two factory incentives as shown all over the web, and it's the only way you can make the deal work. Then shut up! Try it at a few places, work one dealer off another, and I think you'll get a great deal. Incidentally, I'm with you on the Green, it's beautiful. Too bad most other people don't agree, idiots.

I heard a stat somewhere that 50% of the new vehicles purchased in the years 2001 and 2002 were silver.

I meant the factory-to-dealer and factory-to-customer incentives in lieu of 0% financing. Each is often up to $1,000 (so $2K total) depending on how close the dealership is to hitting their objective. That's another reason to shop later in the month when the dealer is assured of the higher earnings level and before the incentives expire. It's a guess that either of those will be around at delivery, and their offer is generous now, but it wouldn't hurt to ask for those incentives (or some part of them, say a split) BEFORE signing the purchase order.

Doh, you know what. I think he's right. In CA it's $500 off all Tacomas excluding d-cabs
That sucks! Wonder if it's the same with the $1000 matching cash too.

Hmm, I keep getting timed out on a long response, so here's the short one, Peter. Green goes away with March production (April arrivals in CA) of Tacoma. See the Toyota site and click on the color selector. If you want a new one, this is your last chance. Good luck!

Yeah, I think I'm going to go for used.
I did a reality check and the new probably isn't the wisest thing to do
Ebay did show up a nice one for 9K last I checked.
In Maryland though
The one you posted is still for sale too.
I'd go for it but I'm in the middle of trying to find a new place to live and can't deal with trying to sell my truck and work at the same time.
Thanks though!
