I went to look for tranny fluid yesterday along with rear diff fluid. Im not sure what tranny fluid to get, is it destron 2 or 3? as for the rear diff fluid, will 75-90 work? or do i need just strait 90?

Since you're doing an "overhaul", you're probably going to do a transmission flush, right? If so, you need to know what you're doing. Be very careful, as you could burn up your auto transmission. I just took mine to the dealership to do the flush (it was like $60-70 or something).
For the diffs, get 75w-90. I also have Amsoil in all my diffs and x-fer case.

3rd gen grog-the rear diff breather is a "vent" that lets excess pressure escape out while not allowing water in. Many of us have extended the vent up to our fuel filler door area so there is no chance of water coming in during a water crossing. The front diff already has the vent extended to the firewall area I am told/have read.

thats what im going to do.
Everything went well today until i went to lunch took the struts to get assemlbled. got there, found out i left the top plate spacers right where i left them on the table...had to go with my friends to run a few arrends. Got home, ran back to the shop where the guy had already gone home for the day. Got back and looked at the ball joint i installed and found out i cracked the bottom because the press i was using was the wrong one apparently.....
but other then that the rear came out great, im just going to take to my buddies and weld the pan hard drop in just to be safe. i also need to get a couple more tools. Gotta get a different ball joint puller, pickle fork, 19mm wrench and a 14mm ratcheting wrench. whoopy. still lots of fun and a great learning experience, i was taking my merry sweet time and had the rear done in 2 hours that included the PITA airbags and air lines, took all of 10 min to get both front struts out. anyway. off to the track tomorrow and im putting the rest on hold till monday, hoepfully i can get my dad to take the struts in to get assembled for me, that would be sweet.
