Pre-order 3rd gen. at speedhut

If you go to the www.speedhut.com web site and click on the model development program link (on the top left) you can find 4runner pre-order information. Remember you need 20 pre-orders before they start to make the indiglo dials so lets let everyone know!

The price for the basic unit is $119.95 plus $8.00 S&H. They take your credit card information but do they do not bill you until they have the 20 pre-orders. I think we have 2 orders in already so lets get 18 more!!!

Well, I detest 'plastic'...gave it up years ago. It was hard at first, but better for us. Bad credit can really screw ya. I have a business debit card. I'll place my order after I put funds in to cover the expense...this week. Hopefully some ODW guys will place orders too. Tell your friends too...I know this guy with a '99 Highlander, bet he'd want a set. Spread da word!

I ordered mine last night (I think I was the first, it said 0 orders when I started. Woohoo!) My only beef is that they don't offer black font colors with metallic silver guages. The only color font they offer that for is dark blue, which wouldn't look good in my rig (I think) because I have no other blue. I had to go with white font and black faces and I'm getting the custom logo (TRD) in red with the 6 color inverter. It looks just a little too much like stock for me color-wise. I'm going to ask when they send the confirmation e-mail once the orders have been recieved if I can get black font/silver face for a few extra $$. I really want the silver to go with the silver sport package trim. Here's hoping we get 20 orders soon!

I believe it's on the speedo, but it may be different for every vehicle. Their generic picture of logo location had a similar guage setup to ours, and it was on the right. Since these guages won't have the kph, there shouldn't be anything to interfere with the logo.

I posted my configuration earlier but I forgot to mention that I chose Euro font as well. Hopefully I'll be able to work something out so I can get what I really want...

I went to a few threads on ODW to try and entice people to preorder. It's amazing how intelligent some of the people on there are (ala El Latino. Remember him? ) I read one thread of a guy who bought some cheap silver reverse indiglos with at least 3 responses asking if there were any for '99s or '01s. I mean come on! There was a thread on the same page the by Duckfan telling aaaaaaalllll about speedhut. Stupid stupid people.

Talking will these fit '01 4Runners?

Hey these look neat --

I looked at their page with the pic. that said, "if your display looks like this, you're on the right page" --

Well, the pic. ALMOST matches the display I have -- it doesn't have the little area that lights up when you're in 4WD w/ w/o the diff. lock (in-between the L & R turn signal blinker)

Will these dials fit '01 4Runners?

(edit)
Hmm duh, from reading the other posts... I guess they do fit -- better question, are ALL the indicator marking correct? i.e., if I order these dials, will they be exactly the same as the stock dials on a '01? If someone can let me know, I'd be in for a set..

To 4FonZ and others
I will repost this e-mail I got from speedhut about a month ago.

We have received several pictures of 01-02 toyota showing the differant warning lights.
Here is what we can do.
Option 1 have two differant group buys. 1 buy for the 99-00 toys and one for the 01-02 toys. The indiglo panels on the left and right side gauges would extend the entire dial face and the whole dial would light up if regular indiglo. We would need another cluster to now where the warning lights are exactly. Pictures wont tell us exact dimentions.

Option 2 have 1 group buy covering 99-02 toys.
Minor comprimise with this option for both groups. The problem is the warning lights on the right side for the 01-02 have as warning light where the 99-00 has part of the fuel gauge symbol. The only solution that would work for both would be the following.

(Preface- We sell our kits with the el indiglo panel and a separate dial containing the custom artwork. The indiglo el panel is installed first then the dial with artwork lays on top).

The indiglo panels on the outer gauges would extend just SLIGHTLY BEYOND the tick marks. It would end before the warning lights started. THE DIAL WITH THE ARTWORK THAT LAYS ON TOP OF THE INDIGLO WOULD EXTEND THE ENTIRE DIAL FACE. At night if your gauges were regular indiglo the part of the dial with the indiglo undernieth would light up, NOT THE PART WHERE THERE IS NO INDIGLO. If your gauges were reverse indiglo only the font lights up with the tick marks, there would be no comprimise with reverse indiglo configuration this way. 2 differant dial sets would be offered- 1 set for the 99-00 and 1 set for the 01-02. The indiglo part would be universal for both sets.

Get with your group and let us know what everyone wants to do. I might be alot easier to get the 20 orders having one group buy. On the other hand there would be a minor comprimise for the indiglo part this way.

After getting some people's responses from this forum and the one at outdoor wire I told speedhut to go with option number 2. I think this was the correct response since we only have 3 pre-orders so far. Lets not give up. There has got to be 17 more people in the US that would like high quality custom indiglo dials!!
I have been posting at outdoorwire's forum and also the new 4runner forum at turdrasolutions.com If anyone knows any other good sites to post or how to get the word out let me know or do it on your own. Thanks If any more questions let me know or e-mail speedhut.

I don't understand it either Philly. There was a seemingly endless sea of people who wanted these before it could happen, and now - the only chance we've got - and no one wants to do it.

you know I was thinking of putting up an auction on ebay but instead of an auction for the gauges they would just email for info on the gauges, like where to get them and how much it would cost and stuff i'd just point them to the speedhut and hopefully they would order, i'm pretty sure there are people who look on ebay for reverse indiglo gauges with 4runner's 99-02, what do you guys think? Does this make sense?

That's almost crazy enough to work. I've never sold anything on Ebay...workin' on it. Maybe worth a shot. Be like cheap advertising...don't know if Ebay permits selling of items that don't exist yet?

I don't think we would be able to sell it since we don't actually have it. Maybe if we e-mailed someone at speedhut and offered to pay the cost of putting them up for sale, then they would do it for us? They could explain in the auction that right now it's a preorder, but they get all of the upgrades for free and can choose whatever they want. Maybe that could work....

Nerfherder, I had a 01 4runner for about 9 months. Great SUV but I wanted someone a bit bigger for trips. I wish I could have had it and the Sequoia. I don't think the e-bay think would work but it doesn't hurt to try if someone wants to. I am a little disappointed with the number of pre-orders so far. They was a lot of interest in these dials espacially at the ODW forum and now it seems no one cares about them. Well keep trying to spread the word and think of ways to get people to pre-order.
Thanks
