Unhappy Power loss

I have noticed a significant decrease in power and top speed of my 98 tacoma v6.
It has a very hard time at speeds around 95 and over(I know, why would I want to go this fast in a 4X4.) And it is just a dog on hills.
I thought the problem was a clogged cat because of a weird smell when accelerating on an incline. The cat has benn delt with but the loss in power is still there. Any ideas?

I know it has been a while since my baby was new, so i dont exactly remeber what speed it used to top out at. What do some of yours top out at?

My 97 had a loss of power right before my 75K service. I did a transmission flush, diff fluid change, oil change, coolant flush (I think), and fuel injector cleaning and it runs almost like new again

I think my truck tops out around 105 or so...

Yea, i was thinkin it used to stop at around 105-110.
It struggles for its life to get around 100, if im really lucky.

The smell i thought was the cat is still there also.

I think the speed limiter brickwalls at 108, and starts leaning things out around 100 or so. The lean-out is to make it hard to get to the top end, so that could be your loss of power.

The last time I had it at the limiter was about 18 months ago... I probably about 80k on it then.

It really wouldnt bother me, but when I get owned by old ladies in mini vans uphill, i get a little upset. I remeber powering up some of these hills.

Hmmm...

How about a clogged fuel filter? That might account for the uphill issue.

Air path in general? You might want to clean the MAF and throttle body, it wouldn't hurt.

You're in Korea... umm, what's the weather like at this time of year? Hot and humid? That could be a lot of it... Is the gas supply getting crappy?

Here in Pa we have a ton of hills and I noticed that in my yota it was a dog going up hills. It seemed that I had to flog it to go anywhere all the time. I did the deckplatemod and ran some injector cleaner through it and MAN!! It ran again like it should. I had about 75K on the clock at the time. I think the motor can breathe again. Now i want to through an exhaust on the back of it.!!
