I painted mine and used 220, 250, or was is 300 something. Anyway I Pulled the bumper removed all the plastic bits, the bumper breaks into 3 pieces, I pulled out the hose wet it all down and started sanding. I sanded and rinsed and sanded and rinsed until the chrome was dull and was heavily cross hatched (scratched). Then I used self etching primer 2 coats sanded what was high. Then painted with a satin rattle can paint. and tada!

They said the job would be a little more because of the color and off hand without seeing it said a price of $350, and they said they would pull of the bumper themselves and do everything, what do you think would be a fair price? should i pull the bumpers off myself (is it the same procedure as for the 99's and do you have a procedure guide for it?...how long how much work was it for you?) thanks for the help

I would just pull them off yourself and bring them in. It is the same procedure as the 99 (same fat lip bumper). $350 seems a bit high, but if you bring them in the pieces ready to be sprayed, I bet they come down a bit. Also, when you put the bumpers back on, there is a bit of manual adjustment you can do to get everything to line up right. I would think that they would just bolt them back on and not take the time to get everything gapped evenly. Do as much of it as you can, that way you can be sure it is done right.

Good luck!!

I painted the inside of my bumper with primer and paint just like the outside but with not as much detail.

well i know is not gonna be too easy, but probably one of the easier things ive done with a vehicle. just was wondering because i would think thats where all the dirt and abuse really is, inside the bumper. that and it wont be any harder than herculinering my rock boards and bottom of the door jams.
