Painted Front under $10 Mod

Well here are the PICS
I painted it to match the rest of the truck its not to bad of a match, I may still get a custom color match done but for under $10 not a bad deal and it changes the look. May have to visit the Automotive paint center to mix me up a better match. but not sure if they will mix me up only a quart

Let me know what you guys think ? I know not as good as my last boring weekend project

Hey, that look nice. Makes me wonder if this can be done over my chrome grill? I like that look of the 2002 4Runner with the grill having the same color as the rest of the truck.

Any GOOD auto shop should mix up just a quart. I recently repainted the hood and fender on my commuter car with just a quart. You might even find out if they'll only mix a pint. I used PPG chemicals. Expect to pay $20 for a quart of paint, $40 for the hardener. Have lots of cleaner/solvent on hand to clean the spray gun. If you plan on applying a primer surfacer, expect to pay another $60 for the primer and catalyst. Wear a ventilator when painting and make sure it's designed for paint spray and other chemical aerosols. A box of latex/nitril gloves is worth its weight in gold.

If you want any tips/suggestions/pointer, shoot me an e-mail.

EDIT: I also forgot the clear coat! If you apply an acrylic basecoat, you'll need a clear coat. Expect to pay another $40-$50.

Man that looks really good, makes me wanna go grad a black can of paint and hit mine with a god coat, but I don't have a steady hand or a steady heart to start painting my truck, I wanna do that to my liscence plate surround like someone else did here on the board a few weeks back. I was looking through your pictures, and saw a pic of that scoop, where did you find that and why are you still looking, why can't you just buy that one and slap it on your hood?

Hard to tell.

Looks good either way!

Thanks actualy the gray was what it started out as. Was hoping the green would of been a little lighter but its not to bad of a contrast the pics just didn't do it justice. If I do get a better color match latter I may do the rear plate souround too

Yeah the scoop I found on Ebay I'm just not a ebay kinda guy and was just getting a price check also and see if there was any other options out there... Figured since I do have a spare hood here sitting around why not make a scoop hood out of it

I hear that, I'm not much int the Ebay thing either, it scares me, I ordered my gauges off there and hated every minute of waiting fr the shipping. As for that hood scoop, that is one awsome looking scoop, that would look really bad arse on your Runner, if you ever do find one like it, let me know, my hood scoop envy comes right afte my 4wd envy. One of these days I'm gona have a scooped, e-locked 4x4 Runner, then I won't feel left out ofay group
