Oxygen sensor

I went camping this past weekend and notice that on the trip up the mountains, my air/fuel ratio meter was pinned on RICH. There was no smoke from the tail pipe, it didn't smell rich, and it ran fine. I wasn't able to get an accurate MPG number because I spent most of the trip in 4 wheel drive and that just kills the mileage.
I figured it might be a bad 02 sensor that I've got the meter wired to. I called my local dealer and PepBoys, the price for one sensor is $165. My truck requires two!

Its an Autometer Air/Fuel ratio meter.
Does anyone else have any clue as to what, if anything, it might otherwise be?

Thank you!

You know what, it just could be your hydrognuter blowoff vaulve. They are rather cheap to replace and take little effort. It might be worth checking out?

On a serious note, I have no "usefull" advice for you, but hope you get it sorted out!

Nice answer...LOL.. Are you sure it's not the dual dipsticks, or the fuel injected brake lines? Maybe he forgot to gap the oil??? Worth looking into:confused:

Someone told me it might be the muffler bearing. Or possible even the idler throw-out plate compensator.

I spoke to another dealer earlier and he said that my check-engine light would come on if it was 02 sensor. I probably just have a crappy meter. I'll tear it all apart when I get home.

You know it could be something as simple as changing to synthetic turn signal fluids!!
