Arrow Opinion on Grill Insert Type

What's up ...

I was thinking about getting a grill insert but I was torn between what kind to get. I was hoping I could get some input here..

I am torn between these two grills which one do you like better? It is going on a 99 black 4runner...

or the same grill powdercoated black.

OR...

The 2nd grill looks nearly identical to what I got from EuroGrills.Com for $5 per sheet. It is a sheet of mesh grill stuff you cut to fit and looks hella sweet. I used the excess to cover my blinkers and head lamps. You can get very creative with this stuff and for $5 each what a steal. Blue

Hey WT is your mesh white or is it stainless steel? I don't want white. If i get stainless steel, how hard do you think it would be to paint it black where it won't chip or rust?

Strange...

I don't know about performance products... they're a big company and don't know about what they sell a lot of times. Example: they have that mesh grille insert for the 1999 4Runner, but not the 2001 4Runner. The funny thing is, both years have the same grille. I'd double check with PP to make sure you are getting the right thing before you order personally. My vote would be for the 1st one though.

Good deal, that stuff is so cool looking. Same stuff I put in my grill. Great minds think alike.

White SR5:

Actually, those grills are different. The '99-'00 are the same. They changed them for the '01-'02 models.

phoenixtroy:

Take a look at the pics on my site. There are pics of my stock '00 grill with the Home Depot/Lowes gutter guard and the '96-'98 grill I now use with the same type of mesh. Cost less than $10 and looks just as good. I added a "T" & TRD emblem to give it alittle character.

Hey Paul, where did you get the TRD emblem at? I really like your grill a lot, I'm just a little worried about hacking my grill up. If you don't mind, could you PM and tell me how you went about putting the mesh in there and getting it to stay? Thanks a lot.

Phoenixtroy, sorry about hijacking your thread, everyone else disregard me.

Here ya go:

The TRD emblem is one you get with a supercharger. You can buy them seperately from Toyota and sometimes on Ebay.

Its Galvanized material from home depot called gutter guard.
As for painting it black not sure how well it would hold up, maybe someone needs to be the first to try it. Look at some of the other PICS on my webshots collection you will see how I did not cut out my part of grill, I just overlayed mine over the center part (cut out center for Toyota logo) and used galvanized paint hanging wire to hold it in a few places.
