They are about 3900lbs (will vary a bit depending on year, model and options).

The spec sheets from Toyota Venezuela and Toyota Ecuador show the following weights for a 2 door Prado:

Net vehicle weight (Kg) 1630 (3500 lb)
Gross vehicle weight (Kg) 2510 (5533 lb)

So if a 4runner is roughly 3900lb that means you're referencing Net weight. ( i have no idea how gross vs. net is measured on a vehicle, other than adding full gas thanks, all fluids, etc.) I thought: Wow, there's no way my Prado is so much heavier than a 4runner.

For the purposes of this comparison, I am inclined to say my Prado is just a bit lighter than a 4runner.

There is no such thing as a 2 door 4runner up here (sounds like our stripped down version) and I am not sure the difference in weight between the two vehicles (diesel vs gas motor, suspension/drivetrain differences etc). The 4runner up here can range from roughly 3450lbs for a manual, 2WD, 4cyl barebones 4runner all the way up to 3950lbs for a fully decked out Limited, Auto, 6cyl, 4WD 4runner. These are net vehicle weights.....don't be confused by gross vehicle weight which is different altogether (gross vehicle weight is the max the vehicle can safely weight with all occupants and cargo loaded). Most are running 4runners with 4WD, Auto, 6cyl so I conservatively said 3900lbs for an average comparison weight.

When I looked up Prados I see common curb weight of about 4300-4600lbs....not sure if they differ in your area.

Just installed my OME suspension today. Got a nifty 2.5 inches of lift, and increased ground clearance with 275/70R16 BFG ATs. The Prado's ride is a lot better now, with significantly less body roll than i had with the worn out original suspension. Excuse the crappy cell phone photos, more photos to come on Monday after i test it off road.

This is the setup I ended up getting:

OME 881 front
OME 891 rear
N91 front
N86 rear

Jamie,

Those values are for the LWB version of the Prado, the LC95. Tepui has the SWB version, LC90, which is lighter.

Additionaly, the SWB has a somewhat different platform than that of the 3rd gen 4Runner, due to it shorter wheel base. The 3rd gen 4Runner shares the same platform with e LWB Prado (LC95).

Roy is right. The platform is slightly different. If you look underneath, it's a shortened 4runner, but most parts are swappable.

Thanks for clearing that up, it's tough to get much first hand info on vehicles in other countries.

I got 2-2.25" of lift from that setup so if you weigh 10-20% more I'd bet you'll see 1-1.5" lift max after settling.
Hey Jamie,

How many inches is it from the ground to the top of your wheel well opening on both your front and back tires?

I'm considering getting the same setup as yours.

Alex

Yeah, I'm looking at getting a lift similar to Jamies too. (Hey alex, we have similar 4Rs!)

Jamie, you mind me asking how much you paid for the lift? Oh, and what are trim packers? I've seen some kits come w/ these, and noticed you didn't use them, but I've never heard of them before?

the trim packers give you about .25 inch of lift.

I bought mine up in Canada so I think I paid about $750 CDN (890's + N91SC's + N86C's) plus I bought a set of used 881's from a member on here for $75 USD shipped. Today it would usually cost about $650 USD (+ shipping) for the entire kit all said and done.

Trim packers are just simple spacers used to level out the suspension if one side turns out to be higher than the other (both front and back).

Are the trim packers only for leveling? I didn't use them.

Thanks. Now I've got an idea on how much I need to start saving.

That's a smokin' deal (same stuff I used), but PM Phil (strap22) to see if those prices are still good (I was looking at some 99 rear coil springs a while back and the prices had gone up since 2005). If they are still the same that is one heck of a great price for that kit.

They are supposed to only be used for levelling, but a few people have added them on both sides for a bit more lift too.

I understand they are made from polyurethane, right?.
Do they soften the ride at all?
