Exclamation oil or transmission fluid leak & shifting prblem 97"tacoma v6

Hi, I just got a used 97" Toyota Tacoma 2WD 3.4 Liter V6 automatic xtra cab three months ago. truck runs great even with 200k miles on it i noticed it started a small leak a month after i got it from a cheap small car dealer in fontana Ca not sure if its transmission fluid or motor oil maybe both
theres oil under the motor, transmission and oil pan and looks like if it could be coming out of the center of the motor and transmission. Thats one problem with it another one is that when i turn it on and as i shift into R it does like this kinda loud thump! or like metal pipe sound and the truck like jumps up kinda hard to explain but if you were in the truck you could notice it and feel its not a smooth shift. does any one have the same truck on here? and maybe same problems? maybe some ideas of what it could be ide appreciate it or maybe i should just go beat up the dealer guy for selling trucks like that it has couple more defects lol

The 3.4(5VZE) is very commonly known for the Cyldiner Head Covers(Valve Covers) to leak oil.

-It may be the leak your looking for as its going to start from the top of the engine at the rear and make its way down onto well... everything.

-Check Valve Covers for leaks.

-Cleaning Engine/Transmission and re-verifying is good practice.

Transmission problem...?
-Check Transmission oil level...?
-Is it correct...?

Also if the rear brakes are worn and or out of adjustment this can allow for some harsh shifting into and out of Transmission gear modes.

-Possible worn drive line components VIA the propeller shaft...?

hey thanks for the post but yeah i got down to washing and cleaning the engine and transmission it turned out to be loose oil pan & transmission fluid cover screws i think it needs new gaskets too but it stop leaking like it did before. as far as the hard shifting it mostly does it when on R gear checked fluid daily everything seems good could be the drive line components but man OEM expensive when on a buget
