That's what XL is made for. No point in draining an oil before it's due when it has the potential to last 7,500 miles in an engine that's "seasoned" for it...

It took me several standard intervals of lesser and cheaper synthetics like Mobil 1 to clean the engine before I felt comfortable in going as long as I do between changes.

I've gotten to the point where my oil keeps most of it's golden color for at least 5 months. Amsoil has one of the best detergent blends out there, so I'm sure the color of the oil isn't misleading in terms of deposits remaining on the engine parts.

Though the two filters I've been using are among the best, I may try the K&N next time if I can find it for a decent price...

Castrol Syntec 10-40, Purolator Pure-One filter. I like the Mobile 1, I'm experimenting with the Castrol. So far, 10K miles 2 changes(every 5K), so good. As long as it's 100% synthetic, I'm interested.

used them on my 86 for 14 years and 230K miles (went to 20w50 over 200K),

now my 97 has 155K, i used 5w30 until 115K.

Kendall full synthetic 5w-30 with a Napa Gold filter. The 4runner seems to love it. It's either a 5w-30 or a 10w-30 I used, I forget. I just use what Mitchell tells me to for weight.

I run Amsoil everywhere, and it's sweet! T-case, diffs, tranny, engine, power steering, brakes...

In the engine, running Amsoil Series 2000 0W-30 with the Amsoil Oil Filter, I change my oil once a year/ 15,000 miles (Which reminds me, I need to change it this month). Hope to change up to ART Supershift Racing Transmission fluid for my tranny after the VB upgrade too.

In the '92, use 10W-30 Valvoline Synthetic blend with Purolator Pure one oil filter, seems to do ok I guess.

Castrol 10-30W high mileage is all I have been using since about 80k, and have experimented with OEM, Puraltor Pure One, and now mobil1 oil filters. Just basically stuck with the same oil that's been good to my engine for 175K now.

Guess I am the only one who sees no point in paying big bucks for oil and filters when I change it every 3k. Have always used Havoline 10w-30 (Texaco) and a filter made for walmart by chaimpion labs. No problems ever...

It isnt so much the oil or the filter you use, as to how often you change it. I have used the more expensive stuff, gained no MPG, it didnt run better or anything.

Is the Brand called Supertech?

I use mobil one 5-w30 but since I'am getting into 120000 miles soon, I'am thinking about going to 10-w30 next time I Change it, I use purolater pure one($6) filter, but have used the mobil one and K&N oil filter before and they are good just pricey. Id never put a Fram Filter(or pennzoil oil filter) on my 4runner. Has any one used Royal purple or Redline motor Oil before? is it worth the price? or is mobil one just as good?
