Hi I am new to asking questions but old to reading the fourm. I have a 98 2.7 4x4, 5spd, xcab. My question is when the factory alloys were ordered did they come with tire other that the the 31s, thanks

Im almost positive they did. You can check your drivers side door jam to see what tire size it orginally came with

thanks for replying, I know what mine came with basic truck 225x75x15s. I recently bought a nice set of the factory alloys hoping to mount a set of 31's but did not consider 3:58 gears. I really dont want to regear just because I liked the alloys. So now I am looking for an alternative but dont want to put the 225s on the alloys might look a little to small. I am now thinking 235s might be a decent compromise and not look out of place. Just courious if they offer such a combo.

I know the 4runners came with either 225/75/15 or 31" on 16" rims. My 97 had the 225/15's (2.7l 4wd 5spd) and i swapped 32"s on there without regearing. Mine has 4.10's though... Not sure if you are wondering about running 31's with your current gearing or...

The 235's should work fine, I had those on my 2nd gen for a few years, but they are a very small amount bigger that the 225's. Not sure where you are, but maybe you can borrow someones 31's for a test drive if you know someone nearby with the stock 31's.

Most of the 4runners with the smaller rims and tires ran 3:90 gears and should be fine with a larger tire. Jackson (jacksonpt) here on the forum runs 33's with factory 3.90 gears and he says it runs fine.

My Tacoma says 225" on the door jam but has factory alloys and 31's. I asked this question somewhere a while back and found out the door jam sticker is known to be incorrect for some Tacomas that had factory 31" tires. I saw you posted this question on TTORA as well and I think one of the members has a website explaining all the stock gearing/tire options.

Edit: http://www.ttora-ne.com/RI/axlechart.htm I found the info on this site but it it's working right now.
