Odd oil Leak
I have a curious oil leak that started with the swap of a newly rebuilt motor. The cams and hear were not switched over but the heads were decked along with the block when making a new mating surface for the head gasket. While I have not actually seen the additional RTV with the addition of the gasket and seal being used to seal the Pass. Side valve cover I have been told it was done. Now I’m trying desperately to determine the source of the leak with the Mech-an-ic that swapped the motor in. Is it possible for the oil to leak through the cam bearing? Is it possible for an oil leak to occur between the block and the head without leaking coolant? Is there something I’m missing? I have used tracer or UV illuminated die to attempt to track the leak and come up with oil on the cam wheel and on the inside of the cam cover closest to the engine, and a steady drip somewhere behind the cam cover that leaks right on the AC compressor and gets flung all the way to the back of the motor where it makes a HUGE ing mess and leaves a trail, this is killing my inlaws driveway . Truck goes back to the mach-an-ic for him to diagnose where the hell the leak is coming from prior to me taking it to Toyota and then back charging. Another though was too much oil pressure, but figured it would be the other side making a mess and not the Pass. side. Anyway there were 5 quarts with a filter added on the last oil change which was after the 500 mile break in using Diesel oil (higher zinc content or something). Anyway let me have the advice and opinions you have and lets get this done.

Well from the best I can determine a bit much on the RTV blocked two oil ways in the U bolt closest to the upper cam nearest the cam pulley causing a blockage of flow then a pressure build and ultimately a gasket failure. So a cam gasket of sort seems to be the root of the problem.

So far so good, though I wouldn't say an easy fix. I mean the steps to remove were, intake thing, plug wires, coil packs, valve cover, cams, timing belt, timing belt tensioner, time belt cover, upper radiator hose, front cam u-bolt, then revers.
