My charge light comes on and my volts peg out all the way to 18. All of my lights get twice as bright and my car starts to peg out the temp guage as well(when it really is fine). It comes and goes. WTF is going on? I was thinking sticking voltage regulator, but usually that causes low voltage for a while.

 

The only thing I can think of is the voltage regulator, looks like your alternator is putting out too many volts.
